It’s so easy to hire or buy a moped and drive around the island, it’s easiest and most comfortable and the most popular way to get about and actually enjoy Koh Phangan.

But we do get lazy, you end up driving round the corner, don’t say you haven't! We’ve done it ourselves.

So why not take a walk?! Although Koh Phangan is not the most walk-friendly island or place in the world (with not so many paths) you can still walk on some safe quiet roads and on the beach.

Walking is also seriously good for you, for your physical and your mental health. You can even do walking meditation at Wat Samai Temple here, so you walk rather than sitting whilst meditating.

Eases Joint Pain
Walking Helps lubricate and strengthen the muscles that support the joints. It is really good for people with arthritis to walk.

Boosts Energy
If you are feeling sluggish then getting up and going for a walk can give you a bit of energy! Especially when you do it in the fresh air of Phangan! Walking increases oxygen flow through the body and other energy producing hormones.

Tones your legs
Who doesn’t want bikini ready shiny toned legs to show off on the beach?! For even more muscle strengthening you can go uphill or try a trek to a viewpoint here on the island.

Helps your mood and positive thinking
Walking can help reduce anxiety, depression, and a negative mood. It can also boost self-esteem and reduce symptoms of social withdrawal. Walking gives you space to think clearly and also the time to mentally breathe which you may not give yourself otherwise.

Strengthen your Heart
Walking at least 30 minutes a day, five days a week can reduce your risk for coronary heart disease by about 19 percent. And your risk may reduce even more when you increase the duration or distance you walk per day.

Burn Calories and Stay Fit!
Thai food is delicious and you may find yourself eating a lot of it, walking can help burn off some calories of this beautiful cuisine which you won’t do just driving all the time. Walking is a relatively easy and enjoyable way to stay fit and healthy.

So head to the beach for a lovely stroll at sunset!
