T Gecko brings the new generation of music

Name:  Kirati Premananda (DJ name T Gecko)

Born:  2nd of February, 1986

Location:  Thailand on the island Koh Samui

T Gecko's family has had a bar in Koh Samui for 14 years in which he started Dj.  His stepfather is a big dj known as Gary Gecko.  So, he has met a lot of big Dj's in his time when they come to Gecko.  He was able to watch various Dj's playing different genres of music over the years.  The first Gecko bar was on the beach (10 years ago) until they moved the bar up into the hills in Bophut.  This is his interview with Phanganist.

The past two years he has played in different bars in Koh Samui such as; Gecko Bar, Dreamers Beach Club, Ark Bar, KC Beach Club, Drink Gallery by The Library, Solo Bar, Fusion, QBar, Mint Bar, The Intercontinental Hotel; and I have also played at the first Full Moon Party in Borneo in Malaysia; and also at koh Tao at The Castle.  This is his interview with Phanganist.

What is/has been your inspiration?
The 10 years of seeing and listening to my step dad and many artists playing. This is what inspired me to want to become a dj as I was brought up in a bar around Dj's etc.

How and When did you begin your career with music?
I began to learn five years ago.  I practiced my first steps with DJElectRom and Plazdj in the Gecko Bar.

What is your Koh Phangan story?
Four years ago I started dj'ing at the Kangaroo Bar at the Full Moon Party which is held every month and I go to every time.

What project(s) are you currently involved with?
I have started a project 'Open Air' with 3 of my friends, Plazdj, DJElectRom, and dj LAI Funky Buddha.  It was started 4 months ago and the venue is held in the jungle.  The first event 300 people attended.  The last one held 600 people attended which shows us its getting increasingly better and known.  

What do you feel you can bring to the Koh Phangan scene?
I feel that I can bring the new generation of music, as koh Phangan only has mainly trance, techno, and electro.  My style of music is deep house, tech house, and funky house.

What is the best thing you've done so far?
The best thing I have done is starting Open Air as we have put all our effort into it and it's starting to grow.  Koh Phangan is the best place for any party projects as it holds the biggest party's In thailand.

What is your favorite thing/place about the island?
My favorite part of Koh Phangan is Kangaroo Bar because it's a great bar and it's where I play at during the Full Moon since four years ago.

Where do you see yourself in ten years?
I have already a lot of experience playing at bars, beach clubs and resorts and am determined to attend more in many different places.  In 10 years I hope, (and am confident in becoming a big name dj) that I will be playing across the world in big places like Amnesia, Pacha, etc; in Ibiza and many more places; and being able to have that great feeling of having the biggest crowds in the world and pleasing them.
