In private schools, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha ordered a probe to investigate the refusal to return fees to students for services that were not delivered because online classes were held.
"These schools should have known what fees weren't used during the online study period such as food, transport, computer and internet services, and study tours," Prayut said.
Minister of Education Nataphol Teepsuwan discussed the possibility of lowering the fees collected by private schools as they could organize normal classes for their students.
Schools were ordered to close during January and instead conduct classes online throughout the recent resurgence of Covid-19.

"These sums have not been used and must be returned to parents," the education minister said.
Mr. Nataphol said that he had already ordered schools to draw up fee lists.
