Marut Jirasetsiri, Director-General of the Department of Traditional and Alternative Medicine of Thailand, together with Kampon Tansacha, President of Nong Nooch Tropical Garden, and Rawat Aree-Rob, Assistant Secretary of the Deputy Minister of Public Health, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on Research and Development of Marijuana and Hemp for Medical Use in Nong Nooch Tropical Garden, Pattaya, las Garden.
The project, which was established in collaboration with Nong Nooch Tropical Gardens and the Thai Traditional and Complementary Medicine Department, aims to study and develop the use of marijuana and hemp strains for medical purposes and allows all medical experts, citizens and tourists to visit and study the plants.
Nong Nooch Garden president Kampon Tansacha told the Associated Press that there would be planting and experimenting with various types of domestic and foreign marijuana as raw material to produce traditional Thai medical recipes.
"Nong Nooch Garden will be that project's research centre. It will be a learning centre for producing an effective traditional medical recipe, which can be regarded as the successful achievement of all Thai people, "Kampon told the press.
"People interested in the project and curious about marijuana are also welcome to visit Nong Nooch Gardens and study the safe use of medical marijuana under current Thai legislation," Kampon added.
