What do you think of Koh Phangan so far?

Honestly I love it and I haven’t even had a nice weather day yet but I am having a lot of fun.

I’m a big nature person when I’m not working on music, I do everything I can in nature and hike a ton in various national parks throughout the world.

I love how primitive this island is, I'm staying in the northeast part and it's amazing. So yes I love it here!

What have you been up to this summer?

So much, I don’t know how to abbreviate it! I played multiple times in Ibiza, all over Europe, North and South America, Chile and Spain, loads of places.

My last month has been Greece, Miami, San Francisco, Toronto, Italy, Detroit and now here in Thailand so you get the picture. Constantly on the go... but I love it.

Have you have a chance to be home in Chicago?
Yeah, I mean not often but sometimes in summer when I’m in Europe I can be gone for a month at a time. I was able to be back for July and in September for strictly North American gigs.

The months of October and November I got about seven or so days at home each month. Typically if I’m playing North or South America I’ll play one or two gigs on the weekend, come home for 48-72 hours then gone again.

I have to plan a weekend off months in advance but if my agent comes to me with a big booking then I will take it because it’s my job and it’s fun, but it’s important to take time off to recharge which is why I spend time hiking and doing as much as I can outdoors.

Before I came to Thailand I had six days off and it felt like an eternity and was essential to recharge.  I really cherish my time at home, I love being in Chicago as it’s a really, really special place but I can’t be at home for more than a couple of weeks before I get the itch to start traveling and performing.

For those who don’t know, what is your style?

It’s a fusion of House and Techno, I am from Detroit but live in Chicago so it’s an amalgamation of those styles. People see Chicago as strictly a House Music city but it has become really big for underground music and is really one of the best places in the U.S. for this style.

Detroit is also amazing but more for the amount of incredible talent that the city produces; artist that become huge worldwide.

San Francisco is also one of the best places in the U.S. for house music and from my viewpoint these cities along with LA, NYC and Miami are the locations carrying the scene in the United States.

What have you heard about Jungle Experience?
I’ve heard this is the event that is more conducive for my type of sound. That this is the pinnacle place where they have proper house and underground, whereas other parts of the island can be more commercial. This is the gig where people said I would fit the most.

The reason I’m playing is because of an artist from Barcelona, Piem. I met him a while back electronically then we both played a big event at WMC last March for Chus & Ceballos Stereo Productions imprint.  He and his production partner Vicaloca played a track that I loved and ended up signing to my label and as we became closer friends over the last year he is the one that suggested I play Jungle when I came to Thailand because he is close with the organisers.

What projects will you be working on next year?

It all starts when I leave here! I go to Bangkok for new years eve, then the second I’m done with my gig I fly to LA for another gig on new years day.
I then go to Chicago (home) to play Spybar on Jan 8th and then off to Playa Del Carmen, Mexico for The BPM Festival where I'm playing on Sharam's Yoshitoshi label event.

After being in Mexico for a week I go to Jamaica for a festival called The Groove Cruise which is a 2700 person event on a cruise ship from Miami to Jamaica.  I own a successful label called Incorrect Music and I curate all the after parties on this cruise as Incorrect Music Label Events where I book artists from my label such as the aforementioned Chus & Ceballos, Uner, Boris, Stefano Noferini, Supernova, Cocodrills and more. Past label events have had the likes of Coyu, Carlo Lio, Nathan Barato, Sharam and many others!

Do you like to collaborate with other djs?
Sometimes but I really enjoy working solo as welI because with my increased touring schedule I have to be incredibly efficient. I'm constantly traveling for gigs, running a label and producing so my time is precious to get the necessary work done.

I made a conscious effort to work by myself and develop my sound. It takes one hundred and ten percent focus and effort into evolving your sound so when you have limited time it's important to use it wisely and have honesty, patience and self critique to make your sound more intricate, edgy and more refined.

What do you do when you’re not doing music?

SEX, DRUGS AND ROCK & ROLL *jokes* (Emma in hysterics by this point as Anthony has been funny throughout).

Honestly, I love to spend time in nature, the most important relationship in my life outside of music and my family is my relationship with nature.  No matter how wonderful my career is, it is still fleeting, all the fame and stuff will pass but when I’m in a forest or on an oceanside cliff, or on top of a mountain this the most very real thing ever.

My spiritual connection with the energy that nature and the universe emits makes me a better person to myself and the others I surround myself with.

Why should people come see you at Jungle Experience?
Because every time I play I put my heart and soul into it and I prepare incessantly to give people the best set they have ever heard in their life.

This is important for me as artists have given it to me this wonderful gift through music so I want to pass that feeling on to as many people as I possibly can, with the most positive intentions.
