Number Three - Eat at the Food Market
All over the Country of Thailand you will find Food Markets. Whether they be at night, daytime, pop-ups on the weekend or open all through the week, these markets are a strong part of Thai Culture and the place to indulge in the famous street food!
Here on Koh Phangan you have a selection of Food Markets to choose from. The original and most well-known would be Pantipmarket in Thong Sala which gets more busy in the evening but also has a few stalls open in the daytime.
You can find everything there as well as all your favourite Thai dishes and street food snacks. Cuisine from Europe, Israel, France, Mexico and all over the world is represented!
You also have the Thong Sala Saturday Walking Street Market, like the name suggests this takes place weekly on a Saturday from 4pm - 10pm. As well as food stands you can also browse clothes stalls and souvenirs and it is a lovely thing to visit with family or friends on Koh Phangan.
Another weekly market is the Chaloklum Market on a Sunday which is similar to the Saturday Market in Thong Sala but with more of a village feel and with the charm of being at the fishing pier of Chaloklum with live music to enjoy, with a few beers.
On the main Baan Tai Road just before Walking Street there is also a food court similar to Panthip in central Thong Sala. It is newer than Pantip but has lots of seating and food stalls to choose from.
The great thing about food markets here is that you can pick and choose what you want to eat. Lots of people like to grab small pieces of lots of things, like a pick and mix of Thai street food!
Get your mouth around bbq chicken sticks, pad thai, thai curries, sweet delicacies, mango sticky rice plus all the european and western food you can imagine!
