Thai people are experts in crafting delicious dessert delicacies, so when you go to the market, you’ve got to try these out!
Mango sticky rice
This dessert is one of the most popular and most delicious of the lot. Sliced fresh mangoes are placed over coconut steamed sticky rice and then a thick coconut milk sauce is poured over it all.
Banana leaf and sticky rice
Wrapped in a banana leaf is sweet coconut milk sticky rice with black beans.
Sweet Thai crepe
Fresh off the grill, these little crepes are filled with meringue - a thick cream made of egg whites and sugar - then topped with foy thong, which is shredded egg yolk.
Coconut rice dumplings
This dessert is both delicious and adorable. Coconut and rice flour dumplings are cooked to perfection on hot grills. You can find these throughout Thailand with a plethora of street vendors serving up this tiny dish. These are usually topped with corn, green onions, or are served plain.
Mung bean candy
These cute candies are made of mung bean paste that is sweetened and smashed into perfection before being glazed and formed to look like (usually) small pieces of fruit.
Thai roti
A vendor making these can be found on almost every corner. It is sweet dough grilled up on a pan slathered in butter. It is filled with anything from nutella to eggs and bananas, then covered in condensed milk or chocolate.
Coconut ice cream
Another dessert you’ll find from a street vendor making rounds or at a market, this one is homemade ice cream topped with a bunch of fun things like peanuts, sweet corn and sweet syrups to drizzle on top. Usually it is served in a coconut shell that has been scraped out and the coconut flesh added to the ice cream. It is very refreshing!
Sticky rice in bamboo
Sticky rice is mixed with red beans, coconut cream and sugar before being put into hollow bamboo cylinders where they are then cooked until all of the ingredients are melted together.
Thai jelly
Similar to Jello, but much better because it is covered with different toppings such as shredded coconut and sliced up into cubes for serving. They are made with sugar, coconut milk and flour and they melt in your mouth!
Custard-filled bread
Buns and doughnuts stuffed with different custards and toppings such as green tea or chocolate.
Egg Cakes
