With Niconé everything looks effortless, and hardly anyone manages to let something complex sound as easy and lively as him. By now it would be an understatement to say he's played a few gigs, or that he's had a few hits. Among them the club hymn 'Caje' from the killer album 'Romantic Thrills', which he produced together with Sascha Braemer. With him and Philip Bader Niconé runs the label DANTZE, which, true to his motto, propagates a wholly different approach to house than any old label.
How would you describe your music?
Hmmm, every time it’s difficult to describe. I’m not the super hard Techno guy, but I also don’t play that classic House
Music is more a kind of mix of everything that makes you dance. I love to play vocals and drop some melodies, but not that massive, also mix often with traditional sounds from countries all over the world, so it’s hard to open a drawer for that, let’s call it neodance.
For you what makes a great day event?
Sun can be good company and if we are close to the beach or pool and we have got a group of people that are into the mood and music it should be enough already!
Is it your first time to Koh Phangan?
It should be my second time, I was here eight years ago but not for playing .
I was a brave tourist dude.
What are your current projects?
I’m finishing my album at the moment, which should be released next year around the beginning of March
and I am also working (in New York) on a new ep with Sascha Breamer. .
How did you get to where are you today?
Doing my thing, tried it, tried it and tried to find my own style .
I think it’s important that people, if they hear a track of yours, they can say…
ahhhh, that is Niconé.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
Koh Niconé
What is your life philosophy?
Do what you wanna do, but do it funky.
