Jo Peirano was originally travelling for just 6 months but arrived on Koh Phangan 2 years ago and decided to stay and make his business, Zenzi Bar and focus on his music.
Hey Jo! Welcome to Phanganist. Tell us a little about your Koh Phangan story so far....
So after deciding to leave France for another country I travelled around a bit but 2 years ago decided to call Phangan my home and open Zenzi Bar. We are a Party venue and also a hostel but it is perfect for me as it means I get to work for myself and I can DJ whenever I like!
Have you played at any other venues on Koh Phangan?
Just at Zenzi bar for now, when we put on parties. But this is perfect for me, I am quite busy running my business but in the future who knows?!
What genres of music do you play?
Mostly Deep house, Minimal, and chill. 
How often do you have parties at Zenzi Bar?
One before Full Moon which is mainly for the tourists so we play more commercial music that they enjoy. 15 days after Full Moon we have a party more for the local people so the music is more Local Phangan style.
Where your knowledge and experience comes from?
Ha ha I am learning as I go along.
What do you think about the Koh Phangan music and party scene?
I really like it. The are many Djs with different styles and lots of places to party and hear the music. It's very Interesting, with a good energy and people, which is more important sometimes.
What do you feel you have brought to the Phangan scene?
We have a new Dj for every party to keep it diverse. We like to mix International and local Dj's and of course me!!
How do you spend you free time on the island? Where is your favourite place here?
I mostly spend my time making music and there are many places that I love. Than sadet for the beach, Tranquilo for eating and Eden and Guys Bar for parties.
What are projects are you currently involved with / What are your next projects?
Running Zenzi mostly, this takes a lot of time and energy as we are also a hostel. But of course I am going to keep on making more music and more awesome parties!
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I would like to be in Columbia or somewhere in South America, with my music. I have been before and love the way that there is a varied mix of community with people from all different parts of the world and backrounds being together as one. And of course the Latino culture still love to party and love thier music.
