How to make Koh Phangan your Permanent Home
It is a dream of many, from childhood through to adulthood.
To live on a tropical, peaceful island. With pure sandy beaches, turquoise seas, breathtaking views and a relaxed vibe away from the world's worries.
But how do you really make Koh Phangan your permanent home?
Here are some suggestions from us…
Business
You can set up a business on Koh Phangan. You will need to find a lawyer and of course there are certain rules and regulations you must follow.
Think about the business, don’t just open one for the sake of it. If you really do want to make Phangan your home then you want this business to be making money so you can actually survive here.
Be prepared and make sure you save enough money and do the research prior to this as it will cost money.
Work Permit
Part of setting up a business, you get a work permit if you set up your own business but there may be some jobs available that will offer you a work permit included so do some research!!
Retirement
There are ways of obtaining a retirement visa in Thailand if you fancy Koh Phangan as the place to wind down the years.
The age starts at 50 we believe but please check the Thai Visa website for the correct details.
Life wouldn’t stop on Koh Phangan either, you can easily reach other parts of Asia easily if you still want to travel.
Study Thai Language
If you come to study Thai then this at least gives you up to three years, so although not a permanent solution, it is a long term one and also productive if you’re young.
You cannot work though so you must save up to be able to survive whilst in education here.
Make it your ‘half a year’ Home
So again not a permanent solution but if you work really hard in your home country for six months of the year and save save save then you can spend the other six months living off of your savings and enjoying Koh Phangan without the commitment of opening a business etc.
The good news is that after achieving all or some of the above you can now -
Obtain Permanent Residency
This can be done, but there are lots of guidelines and you may of had to of had a business etc before hand and you will have to match certain criteria which is achievable enough if you REALLY DO want to make Koh Phangan your permanent home.
For more information on this please see the Thai Embassy website.
Last words, if you are lucky enough to find true love here on Koh Phangan then you can apply for a marriage visa, lucky you.
