Koh Phangan’s High Season begins late December, with everything kicking off on New Years Eve and running till around Mid-April. This is the island’s busiest period and for those that live here all year round, it's the time of year you usually work the hardest, literally non-stop!
High Season is bittersweet for KP Long termers, yes it is great for the economy and brings a fresh new energy to the island but it also brings more heavy traffic, drunk tourists and busy crowds. A lot of people like to make the most of low season here when it’s lovely and quiet, all your favourite restaurants have tables, the roads are peaceful and safe and the air is calm, all the reasons long termers choose to live here forever.
A lot of time in the low season is spent preparing for the high season. As most long termers will have some kind of business here, this is the time when renovations will be made, improvements done to offer the high season guests the best they can and ultimately give an improved experience year after year.
Somewhat overnight Koh Phangan goes from sleepy to sleep deprived but with an amazing celebratory energy from the party crowd in Haad Rin to the Yogis in Sri Thanu, whatever your tribe.
The weather is perfect for high season, not too hot with few rainy days and so this contributes to the many reasons why this time of year is the busiest for the island.
On the contrary thought you can expect house rental and accommodation prices to be at their peak so if you are coming for high season make sure to book in advance and be aware that you will need a bigger budget than other times of the year here.
