Graffiti Artist and now also tattooist 3dom has come for a visit to Koh Phangan for a little holiday with his lovely girlfriend and of course to catch up with his old buddies Bry0 and Mag1c.
This is one talented yet humble guy and his friends all relish in his fun presence ;-)
3dom moved to Bristol UK from the small town he grew up in and has gone from strength to strength. Painting in spots all over the world with international renowned artists.
Here he talks to Phanganist and explains a little about what he is up to.
Hey Bro! Firstly, why the name 3dom?
I thought it was a good idea as a kid. Although I feel I may have grown out of it as it is a very powerful word to associate with just one person. It has just stuck though and I did tone it down by using ‘3’ rather than the actual word. It is however a word with a message.
What got you into graffiti?
Um, I drew a cartoon character at primary school and then just asked my mum if I could paint it big on my bedroom wall. After that, I kind of liked the idea of massive characters. Then I found Subway Art, the book and realised that painting big on walls was a real thing!
Where have you painted?
Obviously the UK, Bristol, Amsterdam, Brussels, Abu Dhabi, Brazil, Argentina, Vienna, Thailand, France. Lots of various festivals as well.
How long have u been tattooing and how did you get into it?
I did a commission for a tattoo shop two and a half years ago and they said they were impressed with my painting so asked if I wanted to try tattooing. So I did!
What projects have you been working on recently?
Glastonbury festival, a jam in Birmingham UK called ‘City of colours’. I have been to Brussels to paint with artists Poer and Haka. Plus lots of ongoing projects with tattooing.
How are u spending your free time on Koh Phangan and what are your favourite places?
Sketching, chillin, cruising around, obviously hanging out and catching up with my good friend’s superstar artists Mag1c and Bry0. Trying to fit in as much as I can in the time. One of my favourite things was swimming at night with the blue plankton. Phangan Island reminds me of my home city of Bristol because of its laid-back approach and community vibe.
How did you get to where you are today?
Lots of practice and a positive attitude, being in the right place at the right time
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Possibly in Koh Phangan or travelling the world as much as I can.
What is your life philosophy?
Work hard and be nice to people.
