Phanganist meets Peeradon Suksawet from Teelakow Running who helping organise the Koh Phangan Marathon
Where are you from Peeradon and why are you here on Koh Phangan?
I am originally from Bangkok and I am here on The Island to organise and run in the Koh Phangan Marathon on Sunday October 16th.
Are you looking forward to the Marathon on Sunday?
I am looking forward to it very much. I am very passionate about trail running and long distance running as is good for the health and great fun to be involved in.
I have ran 100 km and 100 miles before.
Tell us some details about the Marathon this Sunday
The Marathon on Koh Phangan is 42 km in Haad Rin
There are also shorter Marathons at 10km and 21 km for people who do not want to run the 42km which is a long way.
The 42km Marathon starts late in the afternoon after the midday heat in Haad Rin at 6pm, the 21km starts at 9pm and the 10km at 10 pm.
The runners will finish at approximately midnight which is approximetly 3 hours of running for the 42 km on the island.
There is a party for the runners afterwards at 12am until 2am arranged.
How do people join in the fun?
Anyone can register at Sunrise Resort in Haad Rin between 12pm and 6pm on the day to run in the race.
A t-shirt is provided when registered and all runners get a medal showing there participation in the event and there are special medals which are also a stopwatch.
It will be a great souvenir of your time on Koh Phangan. If you finish the 42 km marathon you get a ‘finisher’ T Shirt showing your successful completion of the race.
Mostly tourists are involved and some Thais and this is just for fun and for fitness. The runners are starting at night time to avoid the heat in the daytime. so we hope many people will be joining in.
Peeradon's company is called Teelakow and works hard to promote fitness and fun through trail running and long distance running in Thailand.
