Roni Kush
Dj and Producer
Returning from Samui for a Night of Jungle Tech House Fever on September 7!
Roni Kush a frequent and always great welcomed Dj guest at Phangan venues.
September 7 he will be back behind the decks on Phangan in the Jungle Experience party and for anyone who should have forgot his sound and show we remind you with this video from his previous visit to the Jungle !!
Roni used to live on Ibiza where he handed out his beats but moved recently to Samui.
From there he visits Phangan often to play his tunes in all our different venues.
Not long ago he released his sound with Phangan's famous and homegrown Moon Island Records.
We asked him a few questions before the next Jungle party.
How many times have you played at the jungle, when was last time and how was it?
The event on the 7th of September will actually be my 5th session in the Jungle!
The last event I played there was in July this year and it was an unbelievably epic and memorable experience. About 10 minutes into my set the heavens opened up and unleashed the most torrential rainfall, being an outdoor event it could quite easily have gone two ways. Luckily it went the right way and the rain sent the 6000+ crowd into absolute delirium! It really went off! The place went wild, it was hands in the air stuff all the way! The rain started creeping into the DJ box a little while after, and attempted to put an end to proceedings by attacking the CDJ's and Mixer. Luckily there was some Moon Island guys on hand to hold a tumpline over the decks while I played underneath! It was a challenge but we made it through and it ended up as one to remember that’s for sure!
What makes you think that Jungle is special?
Jungle Experience is so special in so many ways. Firstly its location deep in the jungle gives it a really unique feel and the amount of effort the team there put in
with the decor lighting up tree etc make it a visual splendor. Then you have a huge festival dance floor area in a huge clearing which holds well beyond 6000+ and often achieves its maximum crowd capacity.
When you look out the DJ box and see the huge crowd going as far back as you can see it really takes your breath away! It has a true festival style about it which makes it very special. As I said before the people involved in the event are all amazing people who put so much time and effort into making it what it is.
Without that kind of love and effort it involved it wouldn’t be anything like what it is today. Having been lucky enough to play at and experience some of the biggest and best venue's across the globe for me this is my favorite event and one that I look forward to playing at more that any other. Jungle love all the way!
What do you plan to bring us at your next party?
I plan to bring the same ethic to the party as I do for every event I play at. To provide the paying crowd with the best possible musical experience and keep them rocking throughout my set with. Its all about the crowd at the end of the day. They are my focus, my energy and my life force when it comes to DJ'ing and producing.
What projects are you busy with these days?
I’ve become a complete studio hermit over the last month, barely seeing light of day building up a good solid body of production work. The fruits of that hard work is really paying off now as I have recently had tracks signed to some major labels in the scene and my music is getting huge love and support across the board now, which I’m really grateful for. It seems that hard work really does pay off!
You live on Samui but likes to visit Koh Phangan often, what do you think the difference between the two islands are?
Hah! Don’t get me started on that one. There are huge fundamental differences between the 2 islands. Its actually amazing how completely different they are being so close.
The main difference is of course the party / music scene, which speaks for itself. There really isn’t one here in Samui unless your tastes lean towards shockingly bad EDM music played out on awful sound systems. For me Samui is a good place to relax and spend time producing as there is nothing here that makes me want to go out at night. So my nights are spent being productive in the studio.
I have also noticed a fundamental difference in the type of people who live in Phangan.
Have met so many amazingly cool people over there recently, so many great characters. For those reasons I will be relocating there very soon.
Future plans & message to the people )) ?
Obviously the end of the world is nigh, so lets have one last blow out at Jungle on Sunday
coz it clearly going to be our last chance! ;)
