Fabian
Fabian, DJ 90sechzig90, played at the Jungle Experience Party September 15 on Koh Phangan.
We are very happy to share his DJ story here!
Fabian has been teaming up with his mate Jan in an electronic partnership, - DJ Project DJ 90sechzig90, - since 2010
The two Nerdy B-Boys, - as they call themselves - are both from Hamburg City.
In 2010, when both musicians, Jan and Fabian, met at exhibition for Audio-engineers, - the Duo took form.
It is an usual story… .... ... *
They were hanging out, drinking vodka, smoking cigarettes, celebrating at the wildest parties and after some time, - they decided to make some music together.
That became the beginning of project DJ 90sechzig90;
"Our coding for electronic music. The exact decoding is composed on the basic and most important - Frequencies for electronic music . 90 Hz and 60 Hz
It's a nerdy thing!!", - Fabian reveals to Phanganist.
After the foundation of the 'Boyband' 90sechzig, which was completed by Jan, the two nerds linked their ideas for more than a year - and by the end of 2011 they signed on the young Hamburg - based independent Label' Exposure Music'.
Here they had the honour to release the label debut Europe EP, which led to global DJ-support.
The Vinyl Edition brought them up to the Top of the German Deep House Charts.
Fabian describes the project as a Fusion between North and West. Great Music with a Weird Vibe.
A new wave of producers are on the horizon, the new generation are breaking through with new sounds - and this Duo are definitely among the talented ones!!
It is the fusion by North and West
It is a new wave of producers
It is great music
It is weird
Thank you for making this interview with us Fabian!
We are very happy to be able to share the updates and information from all the new sounds, Djs & producers arrive to Phangan!
What is your connection to the scene here?
My connection is NAKADIA.
We met at a party last year in Germany where I played my DJ set after her. She liked the music I played and since then we stayed in contact.
When and where were you playing here?
I Played Two Gigs. One on Samui at 14. and one at The Jungle Experience Phangan on 15.
Unfortunately we had to cancel one gig at Q bar Bkk because we have so much to do with our music in Germany at the moment.
What do you feel that you bring to the Phangan scene.
Hamburg Germany is called : House City...
So I try to bring some City flow to the Island.
We also have the very best fish sandwiches, but I can't take it in the plane
What did you play for us at the Jungle performance?
I played a set with lots of upcoming music, music with a good feeling vibe and a look behind House City.
What did you expect from your Jungle appearance?
I really have to say that I didn't have any expectations.
I envisaged the whole thing before the gig and stayed cool till I arrived.
Then I rocked it as usual ... Went crazy, drank some beer and had good fun playing my music.
Do you have other plans to play on Phangan?
Not this year!
Besides this gig, - I also write a report about the Asian DJs and Party scene for German Faze Magazine and hope to be able to return next year with better time for playing. Hopefully together with my Partner Jan who has to stay in Germany for hard work in the studio!
What is the best thing you ever been involved with or done?
This is hard to answer.
I experienced a lot of amazing things in my career till now.
I feel that one of the best thing was, when my partner,- Jan from 90sechzig90, and I, got together!
He taught me that music is more than a skill.
He is one of the most talented Producers I know and the only one who knows how to make me quiet.
Which music did you bring in your record bag for Phangan?
I really hate to make categories of electronic music. That's why I will just bring Electronic Music.
Do you think Koh Phangan can be a good place for your music?
I think every place could be a place for good music !
Koh Phangan is an amazing place on earth and amazing places deserves good and quality music.
What do you wish to bring back with you from your Phangan experience?
Sun, pictures and a really good report for the magazine!
How did you get to where you are today? What is your life philosophy?
One of my life philosophies is :
Check it out again! - First time it appears one way, next time different, and in the second as you think about it, a new sound, story, creation has emerged ;)
When I look back, I know that most of the decisions I made along the way were correct for me.
When I am thinking about the future I will do my best to keep this.
I'm looking forward to all the Karera Recordings stuff that comes out and all the very good music from our friends from Exposure music Hamburg, Fabian tells us before we finish the interview!
Thank you for your time Fabian. We hope to see much more of you here on Phangan!
