Let me introduce myself;

My name is Lee Persson and I’m a full timer Koh Phanganer since October 10.
I’m a Swedish young woman at the age of 28.

I have been living here on and off in 2 separate times before.

First time I visited this island was during a backpacking trip I had in 2010 in South East Asia.

I started my backpacking in 2009.

Since I got back on the island in late November till today (New Years Eve) It has been a busy schedule with a lot of fun.

Time have just been flying away and almost all the days have been magical.

♥  ♫ ♪  ✿  ♡ღ  ツ

Living next door to Brahm & Mae (From Brahm’s Drum Jam) also meant that I didn’t schedule anything else on a Sunday in my agenda.
Normally I wouldn’t book anything anyway because I really love the drums, the atmosphere, people, dancing and the magical sunsets that Happy Beach has to offer.

Next Sunday it’s the Drum Jams 1 year anniversary and believe it or not, but I have been one of the first one to join them in January this year.

I’ve actually been playing some of the times too (even if I can’t really play)
When it all started it was just a few people having fun jamming together.

Every Sunday it grew bigger and bigger. More instruments, more drummers, more people dancing, more children, more fire dancers and the beach is just filled with love, peace and unity.
People might drink a drink or 2, but in a very tranquil way…

All the drums really have something magical over them when they all play together. And the more drums, the better!

I’m one of those who really love live music ♥  ♫ ♪  ✿  ♡ღ  ツ

Specially djembe drums. I guess I have a bit of African in me in a past life or something before I arrived from Chiang Mai, it was raining a lot on the island and there were no Drum Jam for over 3 Sundays. But as soon as I arrived, the weather have been great every Sunday. (Ain’t no sunshine when she’s gone?)

You can also notice that it’s high season now. So much more people everywhere you go, places are full of people and it’s crowded. I love it!

And of course that also included the Drum Jams.
Last Sunday before going to work at The Jungle Experience I helped out in the bar together with Mae at the Drum Jam.
It was FULL of people and the bar was busy NON STOP!

It was fun behind the bar, just like back in the days… (Yeah, I’ve had a lot of different jobs in my life)
At 20.30 we all had to leave because we needed to be at The Jungle Experience by 21.00 to start working.

We all went home to change before going and we could hear the drums up to our houses.

It was a very lovely sound from such a far distance.
Meanwhile Zen, an Australian guy took care of the Drum Jam so it was still going. And everything went really smooth! (Brahm was a bit nervous leaving his baby behind)

From my heart, I wish there could be more drum circles everywhere you are in the world.
I wish we had more of that in Sweden. It just brings you a different energy filled with harmony…

It’s New Years, and I’m about to get ready to start my day!

Tonight we’re going to The Coast for a day pool party, and tonight at Anantara where Brahm will drum. And who knows where we will end up after that….

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!!!
See you next year

Sometimes I enjoy just being at home, not leaving my house for a day or 2.

I’m Swedish that way, we really love our homes too much.

And that we actually HAVE to be sit inside our houses 8 months or sometimes more a year because of the bad weather we have outside.
Yeah, it can be a bitch to live in a cold climate sometimes. Luckily I’m from down south of Sweden, Malmö to be precise, so our climate is most of the times the warmest in the country.

Well…. It’s not warm enough! We are surrounded by sea and at winter time it’s just ice winds hitting your face. I couldn’t take the wind anymore in Sweden. The cold wind is the worst. If it wasn’t there all the time, Sweden would be the best country to live in. It’s great when it comes to tons of stuff. I do love my country still but I was just born in the wrong country, that’s all.

I don’t belong there, I belong out HERE, out in the big world. In Thailand. On Koh Phangan. In Sri Thanu. In this very moment anyway. No, I live a better life on Koh Phangan.

Where I can choose what I want to do that day. And it’s outside. All the time. You are in the nature. On a crystal island. Good energy. You hear sounds from all the animals in the jungle all the time. You can put up a hammock, go to different beaches, go on a road trip, eat good food, go to a party, do yoga, go trekking, go snorkelling. The list is looooong!

And there is something for EVERYONE. That’s something I LOVE with this island.
Every part on the island attracts different crowd of people.

When you start to know them all, you just admire the world and smile. People on this island are fantastic.
I mean every single one of you. Many people I’ve met so far, comes back! And that’s also something I love about the island. You meet the same faces more than once sometimes.

It has been pretty cold lately on Koh Phangan.

I’ve been freezing most nights for the past 2 weeks. Driving a motorbike at night is the worst when it’s cold outside. I’ve been shaking cold when I got of my bike couple of times.
I never thought I would freeze over here actually, and since I’ve spent more than a year in Asia before, this is far out the coldest I’ve experienced.
I don’t think I’m alone on that one. Hopefully it will be better soon. And we get greater days too.

Last year 2013, I made couple of tattoos.

I always dreamt about having a big tattoo on my leg, just like my grand father had when I was a little girl. He had a big pin-up girl in the front of one of his legs.

Back in the days it wasn’t a good thing to have a tattoos, like most of you know. And it’s still like this in some countries. Thailand is one of them.

I remember when I was a child that I really admired the half naked woman on my grand fathers leg. It felt a bit taboo and since that day I always loved pin-up girls and their sexy way to not show everything and leave a bit for the imagination. And let not mention the clothing and the make-up.

♥  ♫ ♪  ✿  ♡ღ  ツ I always wanted to be a pin-up myself ♥  ♫ ♪  ✿  ♡ღ  ツ

I know couple of tattoo artists back in my home town Malmö, but the waiting list is 6 months or more. And the price is not cheap. Yes, they are very popular and professional and their work is amazing. I have 6 tattoos total and I try my best not to get too addicted.

I’d looked around last year for a tattoo artist on the island that could make my wish come true. To make my pin-up. With no luck for a long time.

There are tons for tattoo artists on the island, but there were no one that could make 3 of my favourite pin-ups to one by drawing free hand.

I met my friend Steve in Haad Rin and he truly recommended one place. BGF Tattoo, on the main street close to the beach in Haad Rin.
With no luck on my pictures there either, I went home and sat down with one of my friends and talked about it.

We googled pin-ups, and there it was. Both of us lighted up at the same time, pointed at it and said,: That’s the one! And it looked a bit like myself too, which was even better.

I went back to BGF Tattoo in Haad Rin and with luck this time.
The girl was just as I wanted her to be!
But… I have pretty big thighs so it felt like something was missing. She was too small for my leg.
And since I decided to have it on the side instead of the front as my grandfather had, I’m hiding it a bit more.

Even if I was super happy with it, l upgraded her a week ago.

I made it in April last year and now I can see the true colours of it. Some of them have been blending in with my skin colour, so I had to change the girls shirt from white to red and it looks so much better now.

Second of all, I decided to make it bigger since my thigh is not really getting smaller any time soon ha-ha

My scheduled time is on Wednesday and I’m looking forward to make one of my bigger tattoos even bigger…

Benz is a very good tattoo artist and they are super friendly at BGF Tattoo in Haad Rin!

Great Thai friends, I like them a lot and every time I’m in Haad Rin I pop by and say Hi.
I truly recommend them
