Wow, what a huge storm last Saturday night, Sunday morning. Massive thunder and lightning which took out my router and left me with no internet for 8 days, despite me telling TOT that the new router worked but there was a problem with the line-they never quite grasped that bit!! So all week I was driving back and forth to Sail Rock Divers in Chaloklum to use their internet.
Our thoughts I am sure are with Peter G at this time as he flew back to Germany to be with his mother who is in a bad way.
Had a meeting with Woody at Holiday Beach resort on Monday. Boyonic was there also, and he was being quite hilarious. It’s really good to see Boy “liking” so many things on everyones Facebook. I notice these things.
Tuesday evening was a birthday gathering of one our favourite girls Rony Katz at The Gallery Resturant & Dorm. Michal Dahan prepared some amazing food, most of which was eaten by Shad Wright and his new flame Jacqueline Wroblewski! I sat with Darragh Casey & Kate Balk for most of the evening, Darragh as usual stealing all my cigarettes until he finally decided to go buy some! All the Haadrin crowd put in an appearance including Paul Balmer who is going to build my new website after being fucked over about for over a year by the girl who built the current one and has never updated despite promises of “a new one by tomorrow” every time I see her. Her boyfriend was also going to come with his chainsaw and take down a shitty tree in my garden-but every day found a reason not to come. Why DO people say they will so do something, knowing full well they won’t/can’t be arsed to do it. Just say NO in the beginning! I stopped by Bangers & Mash on the way home to say hi to the lovely Tracy Freeman, their new hostess.
I played in/on Koh Tao at Moov on Wednesday and had the whole bench at the back upstairs on the Lomprayah to myself and “topped up my tan” (that well worn phrase used by holiday reps at the “Welcome Meetings” you get when on a package holiday!!).
DJ Absolud (Lud) has amazing tappas at his restaurant and I could have honestly just ate all night. Simmo played before me, and it was pretty busy. Local party girl Autumn was having her birthday and despite having twins a few years back, she still certainly knows how to party! Lud’s business partner G had found herself a man, some Spanish dude, and she clearly has shit in her eyes!! When I bought my boat ticket in Tingtongsala, and showed my residents card, the girl behind the counter said it had expired but it CLEARLY showed NOV 12 as the expiry date and not the 7th, but she wrote expired across it anyway so was useless when I went to buy my ticket on Tao to come back so I had to pay the full fare!!
I got the early boat back, did some work, went to the gym and then got the nightboat with the very hot and sexy Ramona Sky as we both had to do a visa run. She had been paranoid about bed bugs so we both took hammocks, and once everyone was settled, tied them up to the window and the railing in the middle. She was crap company most of the time as she slept pretty much all the way there and back! Luckily someone was on the mini bus I knew, but as usual I have forgotten his name.
I still have not got my head around WHY I have to do visa runs. Every year I get a new One Year Non B (business visa) in my passport, which of course brings the government revenue-visas are big business. But they make NO money by making me leave every 90 days-the only ones who profit are the boat companies to get you to the mainland and then the visa run companies like Mr Kim. They KNOW I am IN Thailand, so what the fuck is the point. The visa run also meant I could not phone one of my children on his Graduation Day, and he has not forgiven me yet. Maybe he never will.
On Saturday, I christened the new East Wing extension on my house which basically consists of a proper brick bbq and a new decking area. The whole thing adds only another meter of living space but the East Wing seems an appropriate name for it! Ramona Sky came, looking totally gorgeous as did Gam from Sticky Rice and her man Tom, Mikee, and Rory Gallagher and Megan, a school teacher he has met whilst teaching in Surat. This is actually great news as it leaves me able to now marry Anna, a fab Russian girl Rory had met at Loi Lay a few weeks earlier!!
The BBQ was a success then we all headed down to Electronic Lounge where Dj Rob Gritton was playing some really cool shit. Very sadly, Ramona has turned me down but I am not going to give up trying, in case I never actually get to marry Anna! I am hoping an English Sunday Roast (my treat) at either the Masons Arms, Outlaw or Big Johns will win her over, but that can’t happen for two weeks as I am in BKK this weekend playing at the Culture One festival!
